Positive action combined with positive thinking results in success.
Shiv Khera

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year! After such a long holiday, I am pleased to report that the school year has started smoothly and I am excited about the year ahead for a number of reasons.

Firstly, this school year represents our fortieth (40th) year of operation and throughout the year we will be hosting a number of special events for the students, teachers and parents to celebrate this important landmark. Secondly, and of equal importance, is the fact that we will be hosting a team from the Council of International Schools (CIS) in March 2018, in the hope of achieving full accreditation to this organisation. The CIS team visit will be the accumulation of more than three years work by all parts of the school community, and will help shape our future development.

While most of us were taking a well earned rest, the graduating class of 2017 were anxiously awaiting their IB results, and I am pleased to report they were well worth the wait, with a pass rate of 94.3%. This equates to the second best in the school’s history and is well above the world average of 80.0%. As a consequence of these outstanding results our students have been offered places in some of the world’s leading universities including; Yale and the University of Pennsylvania in the USA, McGill and the University of British Colombia in Canada and the London School of Economics and University College London in the UK.

In addition, our IGCSE results have shown a significant improvement with nearly seventy percent (70%)  of our students gaining a minimum of five (5) IGCSEs, A* to C grade. I am confident that these results show that the educational initiatives we have introduced, that include CAT testing and entry criteria for the IGCSE and IB programmes, are beginning to benefit our students and will continue to do so as we move forward.

In addition, we have made a number of significant improvements on campus that include:

–  the expansion and remodelling of the Year 3 and Year 5 classrooms,

–  the expansion of the swimming pool changing rooms,

–  new changing rooms near the floodlit football pitch,

–  a new information management system that will streamline our operations and will allow improved contact  between home and school,

–  additional security cameras throughout the campus,

and perhaps most excitingly, the installation of high speed fibre optic cabling and the infrastructure to allow the campus to be completely WiFi.

I am also pleased to announce that we have been joined by some outstanding teachers this year, who I am confident will bring a great deal to the school and our students will benefit from their experience and expertise.

In the coming weeks, we will be hosting more coffee/tea mornings, the details of which will be forwarded by the Heads of Primary and Secondary.

If you would like more information about the year ahead, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
