It
was fitting that the first meeting to be held in the new
“Conference Room” on December 19 2005 was the
launch of the new “Parent Grade Representative”
(PGR) organization.
At the meeting, Dr. Rashid Al-Ghafri and I introduced the
concept of “Parent Grade Representatives”. It
was stated that the main role of the “Parent Grade
Representatives” is “To build strong working
relationships among parents, teachers and the school, in
support of students and to resolve any issues that may occur
during the course of the year”.
Each
grade will have three or four representatives, one from
each homeroom.
We also talked about current communications and gave guidelines
of how to proceed with a range of enquiries. We issued the
“Parent Grade Representative” lists and “Individual
Class Contact” lists. Also discussed were the other
possible roles of the “Parent Grade Representatives”
and it was suggested that the most important of these were
•
To seek opportunities to enhance and to enrich experiences
and life within "The Sultan’s School Community”
• To act as ambassadors for The Sultan’s School
within the “Community”
We
also discussed the opportunities parents would have to participate
in school activities during the next few months. These were
as follows:
•
The Charity Fair 23 March 2006
• Visitors’ Day 30 March 2006 (a day for prospective
students and parents)
• Scholarship Search (we wish to fund a range of scholarship
opportunities)
• Event sponsorship (The Oman Model United Nations
Project for example)
If
they already haven’t, your PGR will be contacting
you shortly.
