Our Gap Student

Oliver Blake is the most recent addition to the staff at The Sultan’s School. He is here on a three month placement organized by the Anglo-Omani society based in London. The Society helps expats who have moved back to the UK keep in touch with each other and Oman through numerous talks, dinners and trips (www.oman.org.uk/).

Born in Muscat, Oliver lived in the Persian Gulf including the U.A.E, Bahrain and Kuwait for 14 years whilst being educated at Fettes Collge, Scotland. Oliver was recently awarded a BA Hons 1st Class in Politics, specializing in Middle Eastern Studies, from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.

He was sponsored by the British Army through university and represented the Northumbrian Universities Officer Training Corps at Hockey, Rugby and Skiing. He is returning to the UK to take up a place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in January where his training will last a year before being posted to his Regiment.

A keen sportsman, Oliver has been helping out in the PE department where he has enjoyed working with a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated team.

He is pictured above receiving a "Gift of Appreciation" for his work at the school from chairman Liwa Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Riyami.
