What
an incredibly exciting past few months we’ve had.
No sooner had the curtain come down on the last “National
Day Performance” we were unveiling plans for “The
Model United Nations Project” at a press conference
at The Chedi Hotel and saying "Bon voyage” to
our delegates going to Geneva. We have built a separate
website so that people can keep up with news and events
from the project. Please visit it at www.sultansschool.org/mun
The week after that we were saying “Hello” to
our new “Parent Grade Representatives” who have
taken up the mantle of ambassadors for the school. In the
same week I sat nervously at the “Oman Web Awards”
at The Al-Bustan Palace Hotel, until to my delight and amazement
we were presented with one of the prestigious awards for
our newly built website.
Negotiations have also taken place with several alumni about
establishing an “Alumni Association” and the
form that it will take. I have received literally dozens
of messages of support through the web site for this new
initiative. There will be an “Open Meeting”
for alumni at 7:30 pm Tuesday, March 14, 2006 for all those
interested in being “Founder Members” of this
new association. The meeting will take place in the “Conference
Room” in the new “Administration Block”
During December and January we have also been interviewing
prospective students from overseas. Already we have many
other candidates registered for interview. It is because
of this we have decided to fit in an extra “Admissions
Day” on Thursday April 06, 2006. If you do have colleagues,
friends, acquaintances or relatives that wish to explore
the possibility of sending their son or daughter to The
Sultan’s School then please advise them to come to
our “Visitors’ Day” on the morning of
Thursday, March 30, 2006 and to apply early to avoid disappointment.
As the school has grown, places have become very limited
in some grades, therefore early application is essential.
This can be done either by online application through the
website www.sultansschool.org/onlinereg.htm
or contacting Sawsan Al-Rhama directly on extension 322
and completing the necessary documentation for the application
procedure, details of which can be found on the web site.
Finally I wish to inform everybody of my new location. I
can now be found in the new “Administration Building"
at the top of school drive. The “Help Centre”
will be running, as usual, from this location.
Happy 2006!
