The pre–season friendlies for all senior boys football teams against Royal Guard School proved to be invaluable in their preparation for the forthcoming league games. Below are the results of the games played thus far.

Tuesday 15th November – Open Boys Football v American British Academy

The Open Boy’s footballers welcomed their counterparts from the American British Academy. The Sultan's School played extremely well, striker Nassir Asiyabi helping himself to a well taken first half hat-trick.

Further goals after the break from ALC stalwarts Nassir Al Shibabi and Muhannad Al Kiyumi ensured the game was put out of ABA reach. The closing minutes saw the best goal of the game from Salim Owaisi, who beat 5 players before calmly placing the ball beyond the keeper.

Final score
The Sultan's School 6 ABA 2

Saturday 26th November – Open Boys' Football v The American International School of Muscat

The open boys maintained their impressive start to the football season, with a comprehensive victory over TAISM. A late change at the heart of the defence, did not affect The Sultan's School, and early strikes from forwards Al'aa Aziz and Labib Al Brashdy, set the tone for the match, as TAISM struggled to gain parity in any area of the field. A fantastic third goal from Hamdan Al Ma'amari , who running onto the ball at pace, scored with an emphatic drive at the nearside post, effectively ended the game as a contest.

Three further second half goals, scored by Labib al Brashdy and Nassir Al Shibabi, saw The Sultan School emerge 6 – 0 victors.

Special mention to Mahmood Al Busafi who played with maturity and confidence at the heart of the defence. Well done.

Saturday 26th November – U16 Boys: British School Muscat v The Sultan’s School

Initially this fixture was meant to be a 9-a-side affair, however, after a brief chat with the BSM coach, it was decided that it would be best to play an 11-a-side game. This did mean that the middle of the BSM pitch was somewhat congested at times, but it did force both teams to attempt some creative play.

For the first ten minutes of play, both teams looked evenly matched, before The Sultan’s School scored two quick goals, compliments of Nasser Al Siyabi and Ammar Al Kharusi. The British School managed to pull one goal back before The Sultan’s School forged ahead again just before half-time with a well struck goal from the edge of the penalty area by Ammar Al Kharusi.

Although the British School did score another goal towards the end of the second half, the game was now a one sided affair, with further goals from Nasser Al Siyabi, who completed a hat-trick, Ahmed Al Mufarji, Al Muhallab Al Nabhani, and a courageous diving header from Ahmed Al Ghafri. This meant that the final score was 8-2 to The Sultan’s School. The U16 boys do still have a lot to learn, but they are beginning to play as a team and the boys should be commended for a well deserved victory.

The P.E Department are confident that this excellent start to the season will be maintained throughout December, where further fixtures are scheduled for both boys and girls at under 14, 16 and Open levels.
