From The Head of Upper Elementary

The semester ended for our children in Upper Elementary with a wonderful Graduation celebration for our Grade 6 students. The end of year is always a special time when our children in every grade can be justly proud of their hard work and effort and I was pleased to attend this special event to pay tribute to all of the students

Sadly also, we say goodbye in the Upper Department to Ms. Margaret Ross and Ms. Fatma Tarawneh who are leaving us this year for new positions else where. Ms Fatma has served the Sultan’s School and its children for many years guiding our children through their work and more recently their social development and she will be a great loss to our school community.. Ms. Ross has brought laughter and joy to those in her care instilling into her charges a strong sense of responsibility and a love of animals. I wish them both well in their new ventures.

My first year in Oman and at the Sultan’s School has been both a challenging and rewarding one learning to adapt to a new school community with its many characteristics and developments and at the same time enjoying the many and varied experiences of teaching and working in Oman. I must also pay special tribute to my team of co-workers in the Upper Elementary Department. The staff have worked extremely hard all year to provide an excellent education for the youngsters in their charge, I have been impressed by their professionalism and commitment to the students.

I look forward to the new school year.

Marie Stewart,
Head of Upper Elementary
