Lower Primary
The end of the year has come round again and the children in Lower Elementary have worked very hard all year. In all grades the children have produced lovely work.

Grade 1 spent time developing their investigative skills, measuring, comparing, estimating and finding out all about capacity and how heavy things weigh. They had a great time, exploring and discovering.

Grade 2 found out about forces, what was a push and a pull. They also took part in science investigations and together developed their planning of their experiment. They measured how far and how fast a car went down the ramp. They developed their estimating and recording skills.

Grade 3 had discovered how to use paper to make supportive materials. Children rolled up their paper making strong structures for support. They worked out their own ideas and through trial and error made a seat or an upright structure.

As the academic year draws to a close we are sorry to say goodbye to Rose and Peter Dixon, Mr Phil Sangster Head of Learning support, Ms Joanne Ransome Lower Elementary Art teacher. We thank them for all their hard work and wish them all the best in their new schools. Now its my turn to wish you farewell and thank the Lower Elementary team, children and parents for your non ending support, your help and your thoughtfulness. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 5 years and shall miss the children and staff very much, thank you again.

In my replacement is a lovely lady Mrs Kate Gower who has worked and lived in Hong Kong. She has two small children and is very much looking forward to taking on the role of Head of Lower Primary.

Best wishes and thank you

Kath Simpson
