FROM THE HEAD OF UPPER ELEMENTARY
The semester began with a number of new students joining Upper Elementary. I am pleased to say that they have settled in really well and are working hard. We said hello again to lots of our pupils from last year who have now moved forward to higher classes and I look to them to set the standard for the others to follow. A warm welcome also, to our new grade four students who have adapted to the changes in their school life sensibly and enthusiastically. As well as new pupils, we have two new staff members Mrs. Beverley Crowe in Grade Four and Mrs. Jane Cooper in Grade Six. Both are well qualified and very gifted practitioners and their skills will add to an already strong department. I look forward to an exciting year in Upper Elementary

We returned after the Summer to find ourselves equipped with the very latest Interactive Whiteboards linked to a computer and projector. What a fabulous resource for the staff and the children. The teachers are working very hard to develop their skills using the boards and they have attended training and had incredible support form our ICT department at school. There is still a long way to go but the possibility of internet link up as well as the huge range of resources available can only enhance the teaching and quality of learning taking place. It is a very exciting time in Upper Elementary!

There are a number of exciting projects to look forward to, not least the school production of "Oliver" where the leading role has been given to a Grade 4 student. A number of other Upper Elementary pupils also have parts in the show and the students have already started rehearsing the musical scores for the performance. Huge numbers of children auditioned for the various parts and I know, the casting team had a very difficult time - it is wonderful to be involved with such talent. Watch this space for further details.

As usual, the numbers coming to the "Meet the Teacher" Evenings were high and reflect the interest of you the parents, in your children , the school and those of us who work here. We all look forward to a rewarding and fulfilling year where The Sultan’s School can move forward from strength to strength.
