I
would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students and
their families Eid Mubarak and Happy Holiday. It will certainly
be a well-deserved break for us all.
The
children have been very busy learning all about their new class,
teachers and classmates. For some children it has been a completely
new experience coming to school and even for those who have been
to school before it has taken a few weeks to settle in and come
to school happily. There are so many new experiences – most
are very enjoyable but learning to play and work in a group can
be challenging. We have already come a long way from the difficult
first days and it is encouraging and gratifying to see the children
approach all aspects of their school life with increasing confidence.
Now rules, routines and behaviours have been established it will
be easier to get on with learning new concepts and skills.
We
welcome several new members of staff. Mrs. Faiza Al-Amri and Mrs.
Hanan Al-Hadi have joined the school from Ahmed Bin Majid School
and bring with the wealth of experience and enthusiasm for their
new roles. Mrs. Sandy Smith has joined the school with her husband,
Leigh our new Head of Secondary. They have most recently been
working in Jacarta. Julie Al-Busaidi has worked in the Elementary
School as a supply teacher for several years and we are happy
to welcome her full-time into KG. Mrs. Afaf Cherif is acting as
substitute in KG1 Blue for Mrs. Aisha Al-Balushi who will return
to school next term after the birth of her baby. I have made the
move to KG 1 this year and am leaning more than I could ever have
imagined about how young children learn! I am finding it very
exciting, very exhausting and lots of fun (most of the time).
We
look forward to meeting you at our meeting on the evening of Sunday
29th October 2006 when we hope to give you an insight into your
child’s learning and some ideas to help your child get the
most out of school.
