Military Training

As a first initiative of its kind The Sultan’s School Board Of Trustees arranged to send a group of 19 students from grades 11 and 12 under the supervision of Mr. Saud Az’zidjaly for Military training with The Royal Guard of Oman at Halban Training Centre. The course lasted three weeks during which students underwent heavy military training on infantry, map reading, battle fields manoeuvres, and shooting with live ammunition.

During their stay at the military camp the students had the chance to experience the military way of life with its discipline and order.

At the end of the course the training regiment organized a graduation ceremony attended by Liwa Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Riyami, Chairman of The Board of Trustees and Deputy Chief of Police, Customs and Operations. During the ceremony the students put on an excellent "March with Arms" followed by an impressive display of their skill in breaking down and reassembling weapons (M16 rifles).

At the end of the event Liwa Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Riyami awarded the students their certificates of graduation and praised their efforts and also presented them with the Sultan’s School Prizes for their successful mission.

Such an event will be carried on in coming years. The school is looking forward to keeping those who attended the Military Training at a top level of fitness and will encourage them to share their knowledge and experiences with their peers.
