The Sultan’s School Scouting Unit

The school has supported the establishment of a group of scouts carrying the school’s name. This is the start of the scout movement in the school whose aim is to help develop the physical, mental, and social abilities of our students leading to good citizenship with a strong national identity.

The group works according to a plan devised by the school and under the supervision of The National Organization for Scouts and Guides. The group is comprised of four ranks each consisting of eight students from the boarding department in grades 9-10. Each rank has a Leader and an Assistant Leader elected by the group.

The Unit Leader is Saud bin Hamad Az’zadjali assisted by Mr. Andrew Taylor. There is an Administration Board consisting of the School Principal, the Head of Administration and Finance and parents who are interested in the scout movement. The group aims at developing according to a well-planned strategy.

Planning to drive the Scouting towards a wider range in the school, the Unit’s Management is looking towards extending its activities to the CAS programme and the Advanced Learning Centre students as well.

This semester, the Unit’s leaders are planning weekend training outside the school. The camp is under the supervision of The National Organization for Scouts and Guides and the programme will be organised by the School’s Scout Leader under the guidance of Captain Saif Al-Harthy.
