It is often said that ‘time flies’. How true! It is
hard for me to believe that I am already well into my second semester at The Sultan’s School. Parents, students
and colleagues have helped ease me into my new working environment
and, in return, I hope that I have made my own contributions to
the success of The Sultan’s School. This year, for the first
time, we encouraged Grade 10 and 12 students to attend Parents’
Evening. This innovation proved successful and will, this semester,
be extended to include other Grades. I think that it is in everybody’s
best interest to understand that education is not something that
teachers do to students with parental consent, but that students
are central to the learning process and must assume greater responsibility
for it, as they move through the school.
The school campus, as you know, has undergone a massive facelift
in recent years. The School boasts impressive facilities within
a beautiful environment…something to be proud of and worth
preserving. I am, occasionally, dismayed at the amount of litter
lying around and would please ask everybody to discard unwanted
items, especially chewing gum, in an appropriate manner so that
all can enjoy our wonderful learning environment.
