and Will have come to The Sultan’s School from London on a
gap year programme organised by the Anglo-Omani Society. They will
be at the school until April during which time they will be helping
primarily with Drama and P.E. Furthermore they will be conducting
English language conversation classes with the boarders in years
6 and 7.
They hope to fully involve themselves in school life and are very
much looking forward to their time here.
Will:
Thanks to the Anglo-Omani Society back in the UK I have been lucky
enough to come out to Oman to work at The Sultan’s School,
where I hope to not only gain experience of a working environment,
but also to learn about this beautiful country.
I studied at St Paul’s School in London where I completed
my A-Level examinations in June of last year, and then began my
gap year, commencing work at a law firm in August.
After my two months in Oman I will be travelling around Asia for
a further three months (starting off on the Trans-Mongolian Express
in Moscow and finishing in Sri Lanka at the beginning of July),
before returning home to begin studying politics and French at Exeter
University.
Amongst other activities I enjoy trying to keep fit and learning
about new cultures, which is why after only one week here I am already
very much at home with the utterly charming and hospitable Omanis
and staff at The Sultan’s School.
Rob:
My name is Robert Gratwicke. I have recently joined The Sultan’s
School and will be here until the beginning of April. In June of
last year I successfully completed my A-Level examinations thus
ending my time at Dulwich College Boys’ School in London.
I have chosen to take a gap year before going to study Spanish and
Italian at Bristol University in September. During the first part
of my year out I worked for Lovells International law firm, which
provided a challenging yet rewarding view of the legal profession.
Following my time in Oman I plan to return to London to work for
a property investment company.
I
have a great love of sport, especially rugby and football and as
such will be mainly attached to the PE department.
Through
my time at The Sultan’s School I hope to learn more of the
Omani people and their unique culture. I am fascinated by the geography
of Oman and relish the opportunity to explore the country.
