Mr Paul Cooper and Ms Yvonne Castello have once again performed admirably in encouraging and cajoling all students to meet Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge deadlines. Mr Seamus O’Hanlon has likewise driven the Grade 12 to complete success in the CAS programme. Our students’ achievement in the core of the IB Diploma Programme has been well served by these 3 thoroughly efficient professionals.
Along with administering the actual final examinations, one of my last duties to perform as IB Coordinator for the present Grade 12 group is that of entering their B2 and B3 information on the IB database. Our Careers Advisor and University Counsellor, Mr Paul Davis, has consulted with all of the Grade 12 students and completed University Applications for them. Many of the offers made by Universities are conditional upon certain grades being attained by the pupil. Students must provide the IB Coordinator with their UCAS number and the names of the Universities applied for so that I can enable these Universities to obtain the student’s results at their time of release. Delays to this occurring will result in placements lost. I shall contact the students and collect this information for the B2 Form from them well in advance, however those who neglect to submit the information on time WILL miss out.
Finally, there are a small number of students who wish to attend Universities in countries which require their IB Diploma to be ‘legalised’. This requires the completion of a form (B3) and also there is a charge, the amount depending upon the particular country. As with the details for the B2 form, I will inform the students of this option and collect the forms in plenty of time for the deadline. Any students who miss the deadline will have no choice but to attend University in a different country or wait another 6 or 12 months.
The message to the students should be clear - they have to treat all deadlines as serious and absolutely final.
