Student League of Nations Conference

On December 8, 2007 Ms Tonye and Ms Rachel will be escorting 4 students to Geneva for the Student League of Nations conference. The difficult elimination process, where 23 students competed for a place to this prestigious event, involved giving speeches to a panel on a specific country they had researched. The final four displayed confidence in their delivery, excellent research skills and an ability to respond to difficult questions. Hatem Sadek (11W) and Huwaynaa Al-Yahyai (11B) will represent the country of Tuvalu, while Arafa Al Mughairy (11B) and Khulood Al-Zadjali (12R) will speak on behalf of Lithuania.

This will be the 14th General Assembly of the Student League of Nations in Geneva. Students will be debating four resolutions, in the style of the United Nations, covering terrorism, illegal arms trade, nuclear weapons and oil prices.

The National Association for Cancer Awareness (NACA)

The Breast Cancer Awareness walk was a phenomenal success, thanks to many charitable people, The Sultan’s School students and their parents (even grandparents) who were enthusiastically willing to give up their time for a noble aim. It was a wonderful late afternoon walk; everyone was in high spirits for such a charitable occasion. After the exhausting four kilometer walk, the participants were rewarded with a grand festival that created an ambiance of joy and amusement. The festival included food from sponsors such as Pizza Hut as well as raffles with many valuable prizes for some lucky ones. The afternoon was magnificent and worthwhile where all participants earned the ultimate reward, the good deed and satisfaction of helping women that are suffering from breast cancer.
