From The Development and Admissions Office
"The Last Word"
Many thanks to all those who took the time to e-mail comments on the last newsletter to me. All comments were remarkably positive! I have been contacted by alumni, ex staff and individuals, who have heard about the school, for the first time. It is remarkable how putting the newsletter into this new format has managed to take news of The Sultan's School all over the world. People have managed to forward our new electronic newsletter to friends, relations and alumni, to "the four corners of the globe".

As I put the latest edition "to bed" I can reflect on just how busy The Development Office Team has been. Six months of planning came to fruition on 17 February with our first staging of "The Oman Model United Nations General Assembly". I would like to extend The School's thanks to Pankaj Khimji, Adil Ghouse and Rajiv Ahuja from Khimji Ramdas/Fromagerie bel and from SWISS International Airlines, Mr. Peter Schilter, Savio Monsorate and Mr. Carlton Seymour who, without their financial help, through sponsorship, enthusiasm for the project and commitment when working with The Development Office, the event might never have happened.

The Development Office has also been heavily involved in promoting the new Kindergarten, organizing "The Visitors Day", promoting The Scholarships Scheme, recruitment of both staff and new students, planning a new web site, recording events happening in the school for our yearbook and of course putting together Awwaliyat.

I hope you like the second edition. Please feel free to e-mail me comments at news@sultansschool.org

Finally, can I make a plea to all those who have friends or relations that are thinking of applying for places at The Sultan's School, we're anticipating a record number of applications for places at the school. To cope with this demand, testing for Kindergarten and grades one to three will start in early April. Please advise anyone who is thinking of applying for a place at the school to get their applications in early. Testing for grades four to eleven will take place on Thursday May 5. starting at 08:00. Application forms can be picked up from Ms. Layla Darwish at our reception office during normal school hours. Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Layla, on extension 24536777 xt.323 or myself at The Development and Admissions Office on 24546362 if there are any questions or queries about the admissions procedure.
