Visitors Day

Visitors, Thursday March 24 2005

On March 24th over 100 prospective parents and their sons and daughters joined staff, students, and alumni for our "Annual Visitors Day". After brunch and a welcoming speech from The Principal, the guests were treated to a tour of the school. During this tour the children had the opportunity to take part in a quiz about the school. Questions were asked about the history, the facilities, the organization, the curriculum and the web site. The winner of the quiz was Anmar Al-Jamali, an applicant for grade five, who came with his brother and parents. He chose a digital camera from the list of prizes and said "He'd always wanted a digital camera, his father was a professional film maker and he hoped to follow in his footsteps one day".

During lunch, guests inspected the many displays that were in the cafeteria area and chatted informally to staff and students who were ready to answer their questions.

Forging links for the future
Clive Pierrepont and Sawsan Rahma linked up with local nursery and Kindergarten owners and directors recently and briefed them on entry requirements for The Sultan's School. Those pictured above/below are from The National Nursery (Montessori), Tender Buds Nursery, Dorat Al-Khaleej Nursery, and The Sultan Qaboos University Nursery. A proposal to forge links and work closer together in the future was discussed at the meeting.
New buildings
As you can see by the pictures below the new buildings are well on their way for completion in September 2005. The area next to the kindergarten is already being landscaped and will complement the new building providing a large play and recreation area. The development block is also on schedule and will free up much needed space in our current administration area so that we can expand the library facilities to provide separate areas for the Elementary and Senior Schools.
