Farewell to The Class of 2005

FOREWORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The graduation of any group of Grade 12 students from the school is an occasion which brings mixed emotions to all those involved. For the staff, there is satisfaction in a demanding task duly completed, pride in the fine group of young adults who are lasting ambassadors for the school and sadness as individuals, who have become friends as well as students, disperse to pastures new.

For you, the graduating students, it must I’m sure feel like leaving home. Many of you have learned your first letters and numbers in the Kindergarten and Lower Elementary with some of the very staff who still provide the solid foundation for the personal success you enjoy today. There are few schools where students are bonded together through common experiences to the extent which they are at The Sultan’s School.

However, staff would feel they had not done their job properly if indeed you dwelt over-much on these sentimental aspects, rather than looking forward to the many exciting new challenges which lie ahead. Every parent wishes more for their child than they themselves achieved. Every good teacher shares this aim for their students, taking great pride in giving them a start along the way.

As you head out into the world at large, remember what you learned at The Sultan’s School beyond what was contained in your textbooks. Treasure the values of consideration and understanding for others, honest endeavour and pride in personal performance which have been instilled in you during your time here. These qualities will serve you as well in the future as they have in the past.

Keep this book which all of you have combined so well to produce, to reflect upon things in years to come. On behalf of all the staff, I wish you success with future studies and, even more so, success in life. It has been a pleasure to have been associated with you all.
